This is a unique canal, (a spur off the Coventry canal). It has no locks. It is very rural and very pretty.
We journeyed over 20 miles up past bridge 53 before winding (turning) around. Our overnight mooring on our return leg was at bridge 32. It was there we discovered ‘the dog and hedgehog’ a brilliant pub and restaurant. It’s just a short walk into Dadlington village and well worth the walk. Great staff, who were very friendly and had personalities.
We arrived on a Saturday evening and with no booking thought we would be disappointed. However, we sat at the bar and were told if we could wait a table would be found ASAP. The food was wonderful. Starters, the best French onion soup ever. Mains, homemade chicken and ham pie and lamb crown. Desserts, chocolate mousse and cream plus Black Forest gateau. Excellent!!!
