We visited this Camping Almayate Costa last year just one day after it had re-opened following a Winter closure. Last year we thought it was rather bleak and a bit austere. We were one of only three vans there and the site was just starting to function again.
This year it was totally different as it is now open all year long and was much livelier. It has a swimming pool, on site mini market and restaurant. It is situated on the beach front (with its own secure direct access to the beach) some mile and a half from Torres de Mar (a quaint ‘Spanish ‘ resort not really catering for the European package holidays but with excellent and classy seafront bars and restaurants). For cycling enthusiasts it is a good ride along a fairly quiet main road with cycle lanes from the campsite. In the resort itself there is a wonderful designated cycle track along the seafront which is a really good trip out especially when combined with a pause at one of the cafes
Closer to the site there is the a small agricultural town of Almayate with a very popular restaurant and bar called Pepe Molina which serves excellent food at very reasonable prices
We left the campsite with a very different feeling this year having enjoyed the site and it’s good clean facilities. It will be even better in the summer season when the yapping dogs that seem to accompany most of the vans and motor homes are banished from the site.
