Saturday 1/7/17
We travel to l’estartit. Camping Les Medes. Jamie Jones has recommended a lovely restaurant on the marina front called Les Salines, lovely. The cycle from the site takes 5 minutes to the front with a trip then along the promenade to the town. We went past the apartment Ian Webster tried to get us to time share. Although we have stayed here 2 times I don’t remember the town at all. Weird. Another strange thing is the TV now works (thank God), we watch In Bruge and both fall asleep lol
Sunday 2/7/17
A long sleep and refreshed. Cycle to town and have a coffee. The walking street with shops is nice. New flip flops for me and stretchy belts for €5 each
Went to restaurant Ananas for a really nice meal. Chips and burger.
Monday 3/7/17
We travel to Trèbes near Carcassonne today, nice journey arriving at 1.30pm, Camping a l’ombre des micocouliers reception opens at 2pm ????. It’s very quiet and although it’s peak season we get good rates only €20.60 per night. We did the cycle in to Carcassonne as last year and ate at le Trouvére again, both didn’t disappoint. Cycle back and call off at les Vigne de Bacchus on the banks of the canal. Local Pinot noir @ €12 a bottle. Perrier very refreshing after 21 miles. Our French drawing board me thinks, the setting by the canal de midi opposite the le boat boat marina was very nice.
Tuesday 4/7/17
A repeat as yesterday only did a different restaurant – mistake. Cost more and wasn’t as good. Nice ride back and canal side was lovely again.
Wednesday 5/7/17
Today we cycle up the other way to Marseillette, 6 miles there have a drink with local workers, then back for a perrier at Vigne de Bacchus. We try to decide where to eat that night and decide to cook in the caravan having spied an expensive butcher who has kebabs and strawberries and veg mmm. So in it is. We walk in afterwards to Bacchus and chat all night about how to organise our life in the event of a narrowboat lol
