Today its off too Vieux-Marielle (brantôme). Touristique l’Etang Blue. Very quiet and very remote! Great pool but little else. Having said that I enjoyed it and the stars on the second night were amazing. We had a day in Brantôme which was nice and I did a tour (in French) which included the bell tower. It is amazing the bells survived the revolution and the nazis. Aparently they hid them in caves.
Friday 14/7/17
It’s Bastille day. Travel to the îl de Ré. Camping Municipal St Martin de Ré. A good journey arriving at 2pm but Mike was tired out. We had to check if pitch 114 would accommodate our beast. On going to view we noticed pitch 16 was empty. Of course we couldn’t possibly get Córdoba on to 114, so they gave us 16. Result. A short cycle into the port. Oh! It’s still lovely and we decide to come back and eat as mike found a menu de jour he liked at restaurant Lillot.
The place is heaving as its a national holiday. Great meal despite a constant yapping f***ing dog. Unbelievable people. This was followed by a stunning firework display near the lighthouse which we really enjoyed. A short walk back, a call in to a hostellers for wine and bedtime. Smashing day!
Saturday 15/7/17
A happy birthday bill (64). It’s a hot sunny day with clear blue skies. Lazy morning then after breakfast a cycle to the beach past Loix which is 24km round trip. The cycle path is hugging along the coast then crossing salt lakes and hostelries that sell oysters.
A trip to Lidl on the bikes. Meal in then ice creams for pud. It’s going to be very hot tomorrow!
Sunday 16/7/17
Yes it’s very hot! Mike arranges the tour. We head to la Flotte then across to St Marie de Ré and then recross the island to St Martin de Ré. Lovely. We go into town and decide that restaurant Lillot with the friendly waitresses. Nice meal, and then a walk around the port. Up early for packing tomorrow as its a long journey to Erdeven in Brittany.
