After two days of maintenance and painting we awoke to a gloriously warm sunny day so we decided to venture out for the first time proper for a trip along the Oxford canal to Rugby and back
We took in 6 locks ( 3 there and 3 on the return). These were narrow locks for the first time which can only take one boat at a time but on this canal there are two locks side by side to speed things up. John soon became an expert lock keeper again and I managed to get into each one smoothly even with only 2″ spare on each side. The 2 day Helmsman Training course with the Royal Yachting Association certainly helped
At the Rugby arm we turned around (winding) to go back to Barby. A very pleasant sunny trip which reinforced our passion for our beautiful boat and the canals.
