Having winterised the boat in October, it was with some trepidation that we returned to her at the start of April.
Our new toilet with a 200 litre holding tank had been successfully fitted and completed (thanks to Clive transporting her back and forth to the workshop in our absence). But otherwise everything looked dry and good.
A couple of snags, diesel cap wouldn’t open and the log stove door handle was jammed solid, so we would sort these on our next visit.
We travelled to York for our 4 week stay. This was mainly to do our “MOTs”, (eyes, teeth and diabetes reviews). On our 3rd week Mike books to do a 2 day helmsman course, with the Royal Yachting Association. It is held very close to where the boat is moored and arrange this for 18-20 April. This meant I could give the boat a thorough clean and polish inside and outside at the same time as Mike was on the course. Luckily it turned out to be a mini heatwave! On the way down we picked up 2 folding bikes we bought on eBay.
At the end of the 2 days we were both thoroughly exhausted but got great results. The paintwork has come up gleaming apart from some small rust marks which will need attention though.
After getting no joy with the stove handle we decide to buy a new stove door @ £183. I also do a list of small thing to buy for our inaugural trip.
