In February every year Sitges (the Spanish town of festivals) holds Carnaval (sic). The centre piece of the festival is a parade which is held over 3 consecutive nights. The town goes wild parading through the town in a mass of colourful costumes and floats. If you stand in one spot then the parade will take up to three hours to pass you.
Thousands of people congregate every night along the route to cheer, laugh, sing and dance with the participants, It certainly rivals Mardi Gras in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The imagination of the various groups in the parade is amazing following themes which are set by the organisers each year
It was the perfect ending to our winter break in Spain on 25 February just days before we left to come back to York.
