After gale force winds crossing the English Channel and Bay of Biscay from Portsmouth to Bilbao we have arrived safely for our third long winter break in Spain.
We must have gotten our sea legs from so much narrow boating as we found the rocking on the Cap Finistere ferry in force 8 gales was just a pleasant motion to help us fall asleep. Departure was delayed by about 6 hours due to bad weather but we still arrived at our scheduled time in Bilbao
We swiftly passed through passport control and customs with no fuss and were soon on our way to Salamanca, the first stop in our journey south to the Costa Lutz at Conil de la Frontera where we will stay for Christmas.
We love Salamanca and always call here for a couple of nights on our way south. This year we were greeted in the evening by this amazing sunset, above, which was taken on an iPhone with no filters whatsoever – fantastic. Hopefully an indication of sunny weather to come.
We went to our favourite restaurant in Salamanca – Delicatessen which has featured in our previous posts and had another excellent meal with another excellent red wine.
