We moored near to The Navigation with a view to calling in for a drink. When we got there we were persuaded to eat as well when we saw the menu and the meals being brought out from the kitchen. I asked the very pleasant lady behind the bar what she would recommend. She replied ‘we are well known for our homemade pies.
Decision made. I chose the chicken, ham and leek pie. When it came out it was like a giant vol au vent made of the lightest ever flaky pastry. Absolutely delicious. John had chicken balti with rice and nan, which he really enjoyed too.
In addition the starter – shared farmhouse pate and the desserts – apple crumble with custard for me and rhubarb creme brûlée for John were equally delicious. I am glad we made the decision to stay excellent food and very pleasant staff. We can thoroughly recommend if you are in the area
